FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Is there a recommended reading order?

While the “Love in Wildes” series is made up of interconnected standalones, I think you can read them in any order and still enjoy it. Of course, as is the case with books in all interconnected series, there are minor spoilers—mostly about the couples themselves, but that’s a no brainer, right? One day I’ll create a Machete-like order for my books just to be silly (you’ll get this reference if you’re a Star Wars fan).

However, Almost Maybes and Almost Forevers (the first two books) should be read one after the other, because there’s quite a bit of overlap in the stories!

In the case of my “Holiday Remixes” series, only one book is out, so start there and then (eventually), you’ll have a few more to dive into.

What can we expect from your books?

I recently learned of the term ‘issues writer’, which talks about an author/writer who tackles hard and sometimes sensitive issues in their stories. With all of my books, I definitely do that too. I always provide content and trigger warnings at the beginning, so you know what you’re getting yourself into.

That being said, you’ll find strong, sexy, funny, independent, hardworking and raw FMCs. They’re not perfect (except in the eyes of their partners) and they own their flaws in every way possible. They are real and honest and relatable, which is all I’ve ever wanted to create. My MMCs are swoony cinnamon rolls, but they’re also genuine and kind and have a lot of green flags. They are family men and good people and most importantly, they’re very real.

Another big thing you’ll find in my books: queer characters. As a queer woman of colour, I intend to write stories about people like myself. So if not both, at least one of my MCs will be queer.

Also, lots of pop culture references. I’m an elder millennial and I love my pop culture shit. You can pry this out of my cold dead hands.

How spicy are your books?

In a recent (self) evaluation, I discovered that my books have gotten way spicier since I published my debut. I’ve gotten more comfortable writing the open door scenes, so brace yourself.

On a 🌶️ scale: 3-4🌶️ maybe. But honestly, this is so subjective, so it depends on the person. I will say that each book has 3+ intimate and explicit scenes.

If I were to rate my books by how on a spice scale, Almost Love would be the hottest and Almost Maybes the softest.

Your favourite tropes to write?

Friends to lovers, strangers to lovers, friends with benefits, slow burn (which is wild for me sometimes, I know). I love the fake dating trope, but I don’t think I’ve done a good job of it yet, so I’m hoping to mess around with that one in a future book (wink wink nudge nudge). I do LOVE the single parent trope and I’ve written two and a half (a short story at the back of Almost Love) so far and it’s been so much fun. I can’t wait to write more (and I’ve got some planned!).

Where do you get inspiration from?

The most random of things. Sometimes it’s a song, other times it’s a book I’m reading or maybe even something I’m watching. But I also get my ideas at the weirdest moments—in the shower, on the toilet, in transit or at a wedding—so it’s just living life and taking one day at a time that does it, really.

Do you have advice for aspiring authors?

I’ll give you advice that other authors gave me when I was starting out. Some of it I’ve implemented, some of it, I just don’t know how to handle.

  • Write YOUR story, nobody else can write the one you want to tell

  • Expect nothing, but appreciate and savour everything

  • Rest is a requirement, not a reward

  • You don’t owe anybody anything, especially not your stories or your time, do it in your own way and on your own schedule

  • Be good to yourself (imposter syndrome, burnout and anxiety are huge results of being an author)

Can I buy your paperbacks and art prints online?

Currently, my online store is only open to Indian residents because calculating shipping is a bit of a task. We’re not as organised as other countries are, so getting a fixed rate is sometimes really difficult. But I might be opening an Etsy store for my art prints sometime next year, stay tuned!

Will you have audiobooks for your entire series?

At this point, only Almost Maybes will have an audiobook. Thanks to winning the Audio in Color grant last year, I've had the most amazing experience of working with them and Lyric Audio to bring my debut to ears everywhere. The audiobook is delayed slightly, but it'll be out soon. While I'd love to turn the others into audiobooks, I can't quite afford it right now. So if you would like to hear the others in audio form as well, read my books and help me make some money? I kid. But if anything pops up, you bet I'll be talking about it about it in every way that I can!
